I am sorry for your loss - and this is so, so beautiful. I lost my dearest friend, Amy, to cancer in May of 2025. I'm so sad that I didn't get to be by her side toward the end (though I was in spirit, as all my offerings of help were met with pleas to pray the Divine Mercy chaplet, which I did). Also, I have to add here a quote by the inimitable Caryll Houselander, which seems apropos: "Actually, it was in the cancer wards of two hospitals that I first realized that God's mercy works in a wonderful way through suffering, and how foolish, though well-intended, men are who think that they are more merciful than God and therefore have a right, perhaps even a duty, to end or prevent life."

In my notes, this quote appears to have come from Rocking Horse Catholic or The Reed of God.

God bless you!
